The text on 3-D printing is very upbeat about how beneficial 3-D printing can be. Think of your country. In at least two paragraphs, discuss how this technology could benefit your country? Make sure you mention your country's name in your blog post, especially if it is not Lebanon.
3D-printing is one of the most important new technologies present at our time. The author stated many different benefits that such a printer has. One major important benefit is how much these printers save. 3D-printing will have a major effect in enhancing Lebanon's economy. Lebanon currently is facing a lot of financial problems; however, with all the raw material and money this printer save, the economical level will definitely boost up. Such printers will gave Lebanon a chance to get out of the dept its fallen in.
ReplyDeleteMoreover, the writer stated in his text how time-saving such a printer is. When all the Lebanese workers and employee gain more time they will be able to produce more and create more. A new space will be open for new businesses and industries. Workers will have more time to produce and thus this will enhance their abilities.
I can see how it would improve products but also how it would be exploited. For example, imagine if the people involved in the drug scandal in Lebanon had access to a 3_D printer.................. :(
Delete3D printing represent a real revolution in technology . It could be very beneficial for my country, Lebanon by improving its economy. In fact local companies will be able to produce a large amount of products without paying lots of money. So it will eventually lower the costs of the products and will also enable them to increase their variety. This could be very beneficial by giving Lebanon to improve it local products in almost every domain (music,cars...). We, also as citizens, are going to get advantage by customizing products as we like them. So we will be able to choose our own design and have them printed as simple as that.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it also decrease job opportunities? How can it IMPROVE local products? Yes I like the customization option....

Delete3D-printing is a very advanced form of technology that's been introduced to the field of industry. This technique has allowed the manufacturing of anything at all which could be very beneficial, especially for a country like Lebanon. It is known that our Lebanese industry is not that advanced compared to western countries, however, Lebanon has learning institutions that are considered to be of a very high level including the American University of Beirut which ranks #5 in the Middle East. Faculties as the faculty of engineering and architecture in AUB and specifically the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in AUB allow us to keep our heads up for having such fruitful learning institutions. Those who graduate from AUB have numerous advanced skills in the specific areas they studied in so if our engineers were to enter the vast field of 3D-printing, that would be such a great success which can be beneficial for both, the engineers themselves and the customers.
ReplyDeleteIn Lebanon, our industry is not advanced because we lack raw material, energy sources, and we lack the huge money investments. Well guess what? 3D printing does not require a lot of raw material, nor a lot of energy and doesn't even require the huge money investments needed in today's industries! 3D-printing would be a dream come true if our future industries were based on this life-changing technique.
"compared to that of western countries" (grammar)
Deletespecifically the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (as I said) but I should have also mentioned the chemical engineering department since Chemical engineering is also of GREAT importance when it comes to 3D printing and the department in AUB is, also, very advanced.

DeleteYes but what are hte changes it could make?
DeleteAs the invention of the printing press arose around 1440, the word was took by storm. People had the ability to print a number of papers in a very short time. Before that, people resorted to copy everything by hand and the end result contained many mistakes most of the time, let alone it being very time consuming and inefficient.
ReplyDeleteNow in the 21st century, about 550 years later and after the development and enhancement of the 2-D printing with inkjet and such 3D printing has emerged emerged. We are now able to print real 3-D tangible objects. The manufacturing of almost all products will begin to speed up much more than it already is.
3-D printing is revolutionizing the world. Factories will be able to print a quantity of objects for a much cheaper price as well as print customized objects for a fraction of the price. Firms and industries will no longer struggle against economies of scale and businesses will flourish. The Market will become open to everyone especially to people with less money. Inspiration and intelligence will no longer fall short due to financial problems. Men and women will be able to express themselves in a modern and cheap manner.
I see how it could enhance production and create many opportunities. But what about people who do not have access to such technologies?
Delete3-D printing is very beneficial for Lebanon. This enhanced technology can help many aspects that the Lebanese have difficulties with. 3-D printing can be very beneficial for the Lebanese people since its is much faster. Objects done by hand take alot of time to make. With 3-D printing objects can be made at a faster rate and for a cheaper cost.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, 3-D printing is a technology that involves accuracy. When buidling objects by hand, one tends to make several mistakes in measurements. When 3-D printing is used, the measurements done are very accurate, leading to a better outcome.
Thus, This technology can help many factories, and projects in Lebanon. 3-D printing is perfect for this country since it involves a faster, cheaper, and accurate measure pf building objects.
What would happen when the whole world has access to this technology, when everything is produced that fast and this becomes the benchmark?
DeleteI come from Lebanon. My country is in the process of technological development but still did not reach its peak in its advancement. A machine as powerful as a 3D-printer can bring a huge number of advantages and that is for the following reasons.
ReplyDeleteLebanon does not have all the skilled professionals that can help improve the manufacturing businesses. Hence, my country is in need of many machines and tools that are only available in the West.
A 3D-printer will enable the creation of many tools that will benefit Lebanon in its various aspects such as education, medicine, everyday necessities..etc
The tools would be created in a short time and will not be as costly as the ones exported from the West.
Thus the social situation in the country would improve big time since the effect of the 3D-printer would be a decrease of illiterate people due to a development in education that will become accessible to everyone, and the death rates will also decrease due to an improvement in the world of medicine with the integration of new tools and machines that would become more efficient that than the old ones. Also people's lifestyle would change with the new useful tools and they would save up the money they used to spend on the costly western tools.
If I had a three d printer, I would print one large country that would be as big as teh work in which al people are similar and in which tehre are no wars. Then I would copy-paste it over our world :)
ReplyDeleteIf I had a three d printer, I would print a shredder that would shred all guns and amunition
Im my opinion 3D printing would benefit Lebanon in a lot of ways, because Lebanon being a third world country it is missing a lot of necessary things. So this new technology could help Lebanon acquire new items that they weren't able to buy in the past because they were very expensive, so in the long term 3D printing would help Lebanon in becoming a developped country.
ReplyDeleteLebanon has a huge problem with electricity, so using 3D primting they can print out endless quantities of fuel which would end this electricity crisis in Lebanon, and we won't have to spend a lot of money on fuel.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I like the idea of printing fuel....bu
Delete3D printing is one of the most improved and advanced technology that in my opinion was introduced to our globe. Infact, before reading the text that was assigned I didn't really have a clear idea about 3 dimensional printing. Through out reading it , I was amazed by how man kind was able to invent such creation. In our country, Lebanon, I don't think 3D printing is already introduced. But what I can say about the lebanese crisis we now live in with all the corruption, poverty , inflation 3D printing seems a very good mean to solve or reduce such problems going on.
ReplyDeleteThe cost of actually carrying on 3D printing seems to be quite hard to believe. As read in the text, the price of 3d printing and manufacturing or actually building something by concrete and other is materials is astonishing. Moreover, 3d printing is really accurate and precise when carrying out something. In addition, 3D prinitng enhance the increase in varieties in many inventions
( grammatical errors )
Deleteso what would our ability to invent more lead to?
Delete3D printing is a whole new form of advanced technology. It can transform a software object into something tactile. I think that Lebanon could benefit from this new technology by saving so much considering the financial problems we are going through. First of all, it can help us save money. We don’t have to spend as much money on resources to produce goods and services, rather we can ameliorate using this money in other fields. This kind of printing is mostly beneficial by saving time. It also saves exhaustion of workers. However there is one idea that contradicts the benefits of this new kind of machine, it can make losses to firms because of the imitation many are able to make from only one object.
ReplyDeletebut maybe also relieves many workers of their jobs? Yes, I can see how it would be problematic with copyright.
DeleteIn lebanon, 3D printing will be a lot beneficial to us because first of all it will help our economy by producing more things and using less raw materials ( reduces the importation ) . Also, it can increase the competition between the industries who use 3D printing which leads to the fabrication of creative objects in our country.
ReplyDeleteFurthermore, 3D printing which is an efficient technique will help us preserve our environment by reducing the amount of waste materials. Finally, because 3D printing is faster than the other techniques, it allows us to save time in order to do more important things in our country.
In conclusion, using 3D printing in Lebanon will make our life much more easier!
Yes it would reduce import since we could print all we need. also waste and time.
DeleteOn another note, it can make our life difficult in so many ways toooooooooooooo.
If this technology reaches to lebanon, there are so many benefits aspects to it. First of all, we can produce weapons by 3D printing thus there will be no need for our country to depend on external sources to provide weapons. We can independently produce weapons, by 3D printing, to create a safe environment. We will be able to be as strong as other countries and thus more able to protect our citizens.
ReplyDeleteAnother positive aspect of 3D printing is that it can increase the investment in our countries. We all know that lebanon is not a country to invest but if 3D printing was available in lebanon, there will be different goods available for consumers of different tastes and thus sales will increase and also we will be less dependent on other countries for various goods. Lebanon will be able to independently produce various goods and thus this will improve the economic situation of Lebanon.
In Syria, especially with the current situation, what the public needs most is food, clothing and shelter. A majority of Syrians have lost so many since the start of the revolution against the regime. 3-D printing is a miracle that would definitely save us.
ReplyDeleteSo if I had the option of printing food then the first thing I'd print is bread which is essential to all people. The idea of being able to feed so many people and for a long time and for a cheap price is staggering. Secondly I'd print shirts, pants, underwear, sheets and all sorts of fabric because it's winter now and there are kids who don't have anything.
Last but not least I'd print houses and tests should that be possible. Providing shelter to thousands of homeless Syrians.
I love this!
Delete3D printing has been a great advancement in technology. In a country like Nigeria I think 3D printing will be a great advantage for the people because most of the population will be able to acquire new forms of technology in such a short time. Most of the people in Nigeria are not very familiar with technology so this will help them be up to date with most people in developed countries, technology wise. Although Nigeria is a very rich country, it is the officials in government and not the general population that are wealthy. 3D will be beneficial to the citizens because it is much cheaper than general manufacturing. Im not sure if it is possible for 3D printers to print out medicines but If it is possible I think it will help many Nigerians because the disease rate is very high.
ReplyDelete3D printing is a cutting edge technology that is being increasingly intruded in the manufacturing industry. It has a lot of beneficial advantages: it can manufacture things using less time, less raw materials, less polluting, and it's more accurate and eco-friendly. For those advantages, I will choose to create an hybrid car.
ReplyDeleteHybrid cars are small, clean, and less energy consumer. Those characteristics make such cars more practical than conventional cars, especially in Lebanon: the cars carbon emissions destroyed our atmosphere and is harming our health. Moreover, hybrid cars can save a lot of money: one doesn't have to go to a fuel station and pay a hundred dollar for a full refill; you can recharge your car by plugging it in your home and it will be fully recharged over the night.
New technologies are being introduced to the world everyday, the all have their benefits and their flaws but they all contribute in the world for many different things.
ReplyDeleteHypothetically speaking if a 3-D printer would have been introduced in the Arab world it could be of great use. It could be used to many positive things but like everything it has it's negative side.
Particularly in Lebanon it could have lots of different used, good and bad. To be realistic if it would have come to Lebanon then it would probably be used to build arms which is a bad use for it, it could be used to help people since the production would be faster and cheaper, hence the prices would decrease therefore people could afford it more.
3d printing is very evident today. It is not just an idea. In Lebanon, 3d printing can be very beneficial.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, Lebanon’s industry is still at low stages. With 3d printing, Lebanon can boast his industry by increasing speed and quality of its products. Moreover, 3d printing can reduce the spending of Lebanese firms because it lowers the cost of transportation. Without the need to deliver the product from the designer to the customer, 3d printing creates and delivers the product in the same place. Besides, Lebanon rely on a high level on importations. With 3d printing, Lebanon can reduce his amount of importations.
Second of all, when 3d printing becomes mainstreamed in Lebanon, customers all over Lebanon will be encouraged to buy Lebanese products, which will lift the economy of the country, preserving the ecological balance because with 3d printing we use less raw materials, so it will help also Lebanon’s environment.
When 3-D printing gets more trending, it could help a lot the lebanese people. Using it properly, would enhance lebanon's economy . Because Lebanon is a small country that lacks the material used in massive industries such as making cars. 3-D printing would really give a push to this domain, industries and companies would be able to settle in lebanon. Therefore reducing Lebanon's dependance on the imports.
ReplyDeleteIn another way 3-D printing could help us in the engineering field, if it gets to the point where it could manufacture electronics, the lebanese people could test their inventions in lebanon. In the civil engineering area, a 3-D printer could be set on the construction site and the project manager could use to get the pieces and the shapes he needs right away, solving the problem in a fast way.
3D printing is evolving day by day. It’s a very promising field that is improved by researches centers that are spending a lot of times to better it and perfection it. This new discovery can make profits for the whole world, not just Lebanon. Like we’ve seen in the text, published in the economist, there are many examples where 3d printing could improve things. Just imagine the change that would bring the 3d printing to our lives. It would be a gadget available everywhere and change the lifestyle of the whole world.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to Lebanon, 3d printing could help it in every field. In fact 3d sharp printing could be used for medical purposes. We would be able to print prosthetics with an error scale less than a micrometer, a million times smaller than one meter. This would stimulate the economy of the whole country. Anyone who has an idea could make it real thanks to a home based 3d printer and submit it to the market. This would stimulate lebanon's industry.
3d printing will benefit my county australia greatly!
ReplyDeleteIn australia it is very rare to find any type of commodity manufactured there due to the high labor costs and high costs of australian materials. Although with 3D printing australia will be able to rely less on other countries goods and increase the amount of goods they will be able to produce nationally. this is due to the fact it will not only save money used on labor , it is also quicker and will save the amount of materials used as it uses materials economically when printing objects.
Australia is so far away from the rest of the world therefore to import goods into australia is expensive. with 3D printing we can reduce the money spent importing goods and put it towards homemade goods. This will help boost the economy and leave our money inside our country.
3D printing will provide australia with and easy inexpensive way to access quality goods something that is foreign to them. The fact they can click print and print an object designed/ created abroad is extremely appealing and will be greatly appreciated by all australians.
Sounds too good to be true... right?
Deletethe invention of the 3D printer is similar to the invention of the wheel, but it still lacks the public and knowledge of it that would eventually give it its fuss. for a country like lebanon to have possession of such a technology would be greatly beneficial since it would place Lebanon between the technologically advanced countries, and other foreign countries will start to include Lebanon in the industrial seminars and forums , thus giving lebanon its positive " 60 seconds of fame ".
ReplyDeleteIn other ways, this invention would increase the production of Lebanon, and its efficiency, other countries will start to ask Lebanon for experts and trainers to introduce the concept in their countries, thus providing the country with more and more job opportunities. by doing all these, the country's economy would boost little by little making Lebanon capable of paying its bills.
The invention of the 3D printer would also help the government supply the citizens with their public and personal needs, of course not the shallow and far fetched ones, but the more significant ones, thus making the citizens happier, leading to more productive people, leading to paying their taxes, thus also boosting the economy ( i know it sounds a bit too complicated, but its a standard and obvious cycle )
It would give Lebanon a lot but you need to keep in mind that Lebanon would not be the sole owner of 3-D printing since so many other countries would have it... I also see some down sides to the economy, such in job losses and flooding the market as well as destroying so many businesses.
Delete3D printing has its pros and cons depending on the country, in lebanon, 3D printing can be more harmful than beneficial because as one can see in our daily life little kids have weapons and they carry it all around. If 3D printing was used by everyone its going to become a jungle, mean while 3D printing can really help by getting certain machines to help cure people.
ReplyDeleteHiyam yes, Ican see how, like any technology, it can be used for devious purposes. Think of what could happen to the drug market!
ReplyDeleteObviously the issue of whether 3D printing would be more beneficial or harmful is largely controversial.
ReplyDeleteThe way I see it, not everyone should have access to a 3D printer - it is not something that should be allowed in homes, but rather something that should be supervised by people who will decide whether or not a particular requested item to be printed will be harmful.
I can imagine that in Lebanon a 3D printer would do more harm than good. There is one issue in particular that came to mind which is that a lot of people in Lebanon are already unemployed and although the 3D printer may bring more jobs, it will also destroy many others. Also, those who are to be employed for 3D printers need to be educated on technology and that is not the case for all the workers.
For this reason (and many others), although having access to 3D printers would be beyond amazing, I think that it would do more damage than it would do good and so I wouldn't introduce it into Lebanon at all.
3D printing is one of the trends nowadays in terms of technological revolutions. As we know it, Lebanon is a very small country with a low economy, it is placed in the south economies. As we know it, the theory of creative destruction is strong, and means that is an innovation occurs, it will destroy jobs but create newer ones. If we were to consider Lebanon's economy, this printer could probably save the economy.
ReplyDeleteThe issue is that Lebanon is not an advanced country in technology, like China for example, so using this 3D printer will cost it more in terms of understanding it's concept rather than making the economy stimulate. So instead of helping the economy in Lebanon, it will have to cost it because workers must learn the methods of using it. It will also destroy a lot of jobs in Lebanon, which will be hitting many sectors in the workplace.
I do not think 3D printing will be an advantage for Lebanon's economy.
